This painting went through many phases before arriving at a finished state. I was intrigued by the complexity of nature and the spiritual quality of light. The flowers themselves are somewhat subdued, with only filtered light touching them, while there is a lot more light in areas of the surrounding background. I toned down the brightest lights and worked back and forth till it achieved a kind of balance.
