This painting is of an amazing flowering tree which I saw on the Ringling Museum grounds. I believe it is from Asia and has immense red flowers reminiscent of badminton birdies, but bigger. The composition verges on the abstract, which is intentional. I put a small bird on a branch in there, a Painted Bunting, a beautiful , multi-colored bird the size of a sparrow, which turns out to be hard to see in this brightly colored image.
