This painting picks up where We Are A Tapestry left off. It is based of pictures of people walking by on the beach. It differs from the previous one in the series in that I stopped before it started to get more specific. In a way , this is my under painting, however, it seemed right to leave it as is. Sometime stopping before a painting "gels" into finished restrictions is very refreshing and in this case, the sense of movement could easily have become less exciting. The essence of the piece is movement and I created a composition that supports and amplifies that. I owe a debt to my wife Debbie for speaking up at this stage. Without her input, I may well have marched on an carried the painting to a less dynamic end. This is an avenue I am currently going down; allowing the painting to speak and breathe like a living thing, by stopping before it becomes too locked down.
