This painting is one of six I recently completed on the subject of Chicago in its many moods. I find the city inspiring in ways that are quite different from cities like New York or LA. The lake as a backdrop for one thing, makes the tall buildings stand in almost heroic contrast. Along with that, the light and shadows that constantly change, give Chicago such an exciting atmosphere.

In these six paintings, I am looking from a high vantage point; either my brother's condo on the 34th floor, or from the Hancock building, which is nearby. Both offer incredible vews of the buildings and the lake beyond.
