I often travel with a set of acrylic gouache, which is easily transportable, yet has the opaque substance I prefer in paint. It is capapble of lovely watercolor effect, too, but it handles somewhat differently.

I painted this hydrangea on a visit to Tennessee, while escaping the effects of Hurricane Irma. My street in Sarasota was without power for 9 days and it was pretty unpleasant there. Fortunately I had a place to go and found myself painting the early signs of fall.
