I saw this scene on a stretch of beach that is used as a boat launch in that part of Maine. I liked the feel of the fishermen going about the activity of loading the boat back on the trailer after a morning's run, fishing in the cold waters. It was obvious they had done this a thousand times. The two men showed an economy of action as they loaded their no-frills aluminum boat onto the trailer. Behind them on a rough but sturdy pier, an oil truck was fueling the diesel tanks of a waiting lobster boat.
I worked very roughly and in a loose way to get across the extraordinary power within the ordinary scene.
