The sun beats down on old fishing wharves and boats in Old Cortez Fishing Village. I was in the shade, at least for a good part of this painting, until the sun moved more overhead. But I managed to capture enough. looking out toward the bay and beyond that, to the Gulf Of Mexico, past pilings and crumbling structures, I worked quickly to capture the line of the shadow, the traps piled on the wharf, a pile of lumber on the right and the boats , rocking gently in the sultry heat.
