If you see a sign for a barn sale while driving in New England, it's a good idea to stop. Sometimes the barn is being cleared out and old things that haven't seen daylight in decades, are displayed, complete with old dust and cobwebs. Sometimes, if you're lucky, you can find a real treasure, but most often it is just fascinating to see the contents of the old barn and the structure itself.. This scene depicts just one such sale, held on the grounds of an 18th century farm. It is an odd composition, divided almost in half vertically. There are two barns, oone on the gravel side and one on the grass side. I was careful to give the grass line a slight angle to help get across perspective.
