In Summer Days I was interested in capturing that mid day bright sunlight you get on summer days. There is blue and purple in most of the shadows and you can almost feel the sun baking the unshaded areas. I find the light very different in the Northeast than in Florida. Maybe there is more haze in the atmosphere here, even on crisp and clear days. The farm rings so many nostalgic bells for me, having summered on a farm in Quebec in my boyhood. I remember the smell of the hay in the old barn, the oil on farm machinery and the endless places to play and explore. This Maine Farm is both typical and somewhat of a rarity these days, in that is retains most of it's original look. I thought the open hatch of the SUV gave it a look of the family living there, or maybe they are packing for a weekend trip to the coast.
