I have long been aware of a kind of blindness we have for the everyday objects that fill our lives. We may have noticed them when we bought them, but then they become part of a background of utilitarian things that have no visual impact. I started doing still lives of these ignored things, just "found" arrangements that I would paint or draw with the same approach I would use for more traditional arrangements.

This image comes in the middle of that series and was created in the computer from a photo. I let loose all my love of pattern on it, flowingfrom one thing to another with abandon.
